DURHAM, North Carolina - March 24, 2010 -- On April 24, 2010 at the Offices of the Freelon Group, 5310 South Alston ave. in Durham, Triangle residents can dance to African music and enjoy Africa Hors d'Oeuvres while supporting an important cause -- helping to save the African children and pregnant women from malaria.
This party with a purpose is hosted by Bonjour Africa Malaria Project (BAMP) and will include live entertainment, dance music, and remarks from local dignitaries. Complimentary heavy Hors d'Oeuvres, beer and wine will be available. A silent auction for special gifts, art objects, and prizes takes place during the event. To donate an item, get in touch with Beth Keena at b_keena@yahoo.com, or 919-942-3404.
Each year, BAMP holds an event in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill metro area to raise funds to buy insecticide-treated mosquito nets and delivers them directly to African women, children, and youth through a community based healthcare network in Linguere, Senegal. Last year's event raised $10,000, which paid for the purchase and delivery of at least 5,000 life-saving nets.
After the food and entertainment, dancing starts with deejay Bouna Ndiaye who will play a wide assortment of African pop music. Ndiaye is the producer and host of the popular Bonjour Africa music show heard every Sunday from 4 - 6:00p.m. on WNCU 90.7FM.
Tickets for the event are available for $25 in advance and at the door. All proceeds will go to the procurement of malaria interventions. For ticket information or other details about the African Dance Party, please call Bouna Ndiaye at (919)215-4765, or email bonjourafrica@hotmail.com.
The Bonjour Afrca Malaria Project is the fundraising project of Bouna Ndiaye, and Bonjour africa Projects, Inc.
